What Kind of Scrapbooking Techniques are Right for Me?

scrapbooking techniques
For as many scrapboookers there are in the world, there are probably just as many scrapbooking techniques. Each of us is as unique as the next, and our scrapbooking styles reflect this. Some hobbyists like to decide on a theme for an entire scrapbook before starting a project. Themes include, special events, vacations, news items, sports, family, etc...

Other scrapbookers like to conceive their individual page layouts before fixing anything to the page. Templates are useful when working with this approach. Some scrapbookers like to work extemporaneously, just letting whatever comes to mind flow onto the page, producing a somewhat chaotic feel in their scrapbooks. This is my style. I like to just go with how I feel and follow my instincts. So far, I have been very happy with the results.

Scrapbooking Clubs Help You Learn New Ways to Scrapbook

scrapbooking clubs
Scrapbooking clubs are a great resource for the scrapbooking enthusiast who wants to learn more about their hobby. Scrapbook clubs give scrapbookers the chance to meet on a regular basis and share their new scrapbooks with one another and exchange ideas and techniques for scrapbooking.

If you love scrapbooking and want to share your passion for the craft, consider joining your local scrapbooking club. If a club does not exist in your area yet, get a few friends together and designate a night to meet. The first few meetings will be mundane and organizational in nature, but after the initial work setting up the club is done you will look forward to your regular meetings.

Happy Valentines Day and a Reminder About Scrapbooking Paper

scrapbooking paper
First of all, I would like to wish everyone out there a Happy Valentines Day. We here at the Scrapbooking blog sincerely hope that you and your loved ones have a happy and enjoyable holiday. Be sure to give someone you love a big hug and a kiss today as it will surely brighten their day.

With that said, I'd just like to post a reminder about the importance of using good scrapbooking paper when creating pages to commemorate special events like a special Valentines Day. The right paper can make or break a scrapbook and it is always a good idea to go with a higher quality paper if you have the option.

Options for Scrapbooking Storage

scrapbooking storage
Now, in my previous posts, I have expounded on the virtues of the enjoyment to be derived from engaging in scrapbooking regularly as a hobby. A issue that I have yet to address is how to store your scrapbooks safely.

Look for a large, sturdy plastic container of the sort used to store clothing. Personally, I prefer a clear container so that I can see my scrapbooks from the outside.

I store my scrapbook collection under my bed, so the flat, wheeled storage containers work perfectly for my purposes.

Whatever you decide, there are many options for scrapbooking storage. Savvy shopping and persistence will help you find the right storage for you.

Custom Scrapbooking Rising in Popularity

custom scrapbooking
It is no surprise that die hard scrapbookers pride themselves on the originality of their artwork. To someone who spends a large amount of his or her free time scrapbooking, no two scrapbooks are exactly alike.

In fact, some scrapbooking enthusiasts exclusively do custom scrapbooking, eschewing traditional forms of the craft for newer, more innovative designs. Choosing an alternate material for your scrapbook pages or binding can go a long way towards making your scrapbook one of a kind.

An environmentally conscious scrapbooking friend of mine from Minneapolis, MN for example, created a scrapbook entirely out of used gallon milk jugs. She used the materials as her cover and pages, and crafted messages on the jugs that raise environmental awareness.
